During my Sophomore year of high school, I had the opportunity to teach art lessons to a kid with autism. As the pandemic had restricted many programs and activities, a parent had asked me if I could teach art to her child. The decision to take this role was life-changing. Not only. Not only was I able to connect with the kid in various ways, but I realized that I could communicate with him through art. Of course, there were trials and errors we faced as I was new and inexperienced in teaching. However, these trials and errors helped me realize my understanding and passion to continue working with this community. By working with him over the months and slowly learning different things about him, I knew I had to impact more individuals in this community.

Today, I hope that I can impact a greater community and create new experiences as I had with the kid.
